An accessory thats not used as much with wedding gowns yet can add a very interesting touch is a wedding belt. Theyre not used in the traditional sense of helping to keep the dress on as much as for decorative purposes.

There are many types of wedding belts; lets take a look:

1. Sashes. Wedding sashes are probably the most flexible because you can get them in all colors, lengths, widths and embellishments. You can get them with or without clasps. You can have them embroidered or jeweled. They offer an amazing flexibility based on a brides personality and style.

2. Ribbons. Ribbons are like sashes in a small degree but the difference is theyre light and gauzy, most of the time see-through. They wont be embellished most of the time, notwithstanding a floral pattern of some type to help highlight it, and often theyre the same color as the wedding dress. But they help to offer light touches and soften the overall effect of the bridal ensemble.

3. Jeweled belts. Jeweled belts can go two ways. One is by having specific of different types of jewels encrusted onto either cloth or something metallic. The effect is to bring sparkle to a wedding dress, and often those who are the most comfortable in highlighting their waistlines are the brides wearing them. Most of the time the cloth belts are white so the gems will sparkle best, but some outlets will color the belts if requested.

4. Metal belts. These belts can be made out of anything, in any pattern, and can offer many options for creative brides. You may not necessarily think of classic wedding with metal belts, but you can go back in history to medieval times where many brides used to wear some type of metal belt, which used to be seen as a status symbol.
