Theres something I always look forward to when I go to weddings (and Im betting many other wedding guests do too), but at the last two weddings I attended, I missed it

I know that wedding catering staff is excited to leave work and head home, and serving wedding cake starts the countdown clock. I just wish they gave the wedding guests a bit more time to find their seats and scoop up some fondant- or buttercream-iced loveliness.

Since wedding caterers probably wont change their ways, ask your wedding reception MC, be it bandleader or DJ, to get on the microphone in between songs and say, Cake is being served (you may also need to ask the catering manager to give the MC a heads-up). I was so thankful when the DJ made that announcement at a friends wedding last year because that chocolate-frosted confection was pure heaven.

Have you ever missed out on wedding cake at a friends reception? Do you care if you dont get a bite of dessert, or is it only a big deal to sweets-obsessed folks like myself? Will you ask your wedding reception MC to let guests know when the cakes out?
