Real Wedding – Country Style
High Fashion Wedding Consultant July 14th. 2011, 6:56pmStevie and Trevor wed in a gorgeous Texas wedding that has us wishing for a summer trip down South. The couples choices of vibrant florals, organic details, and Stevies gorgeous cream-colored gown fit perfectly with the beautiful scene at the Lulling country home turned venue where they said their I dos. The rolling hillside was the perfect backdrop for Evan Godwin of Purus Wedding Studios to photograph the newlyweds and their lovely nuptials.

Lovely: Tell us about THE dress and what inspired your look.
Stevie: I wanted my look to be classy, elegant, and simple. Getting married outside in the Texas heat helped to guide this decision too! I had been dress shopping off and on for about 6 months and finally went to a place called St. Thomas where they offer many choices of gowns for any and all occasions. I told the owner what I was looking for and he picked out a few for me to try on. He casually mentioned that he already “knew” the dress that was for me. Sure enough, a champagne gold ballroom gown won me over instantly. It fit my shape, the color complimented my skin tone, and the ruching added a unique style. I liked the fact that it was not made to be a wedding gown and that it was not the conventional white that most brides are accustomed to choosing.
Lovely: What were the most important details to pulling off your dream wedding?
Stevie: It’s funny because, like many women out there, I hadn’t ever really imagined myself getting married. This was good, though, because I went towards the creation of our wedding with no prior expectations. My fiancé and I just wanted to be able to pull-off a fun filled evening in some sort of style for everyone we loved without breaking the bank for us or our families. When I look back on it, I don’t know what I would have done without having my partner’s active support during all of the planning. Trevor was right there for every decision, discussion, and shopping trip we had to make. The rest of our families too were such a big part of getting our wedding off of the ground. Whether it was financial, emotional, or active support, they were right there for us at every step. Weddings are couched as being all about you, and in some ways they are, but really they’re for everyone you love. So it was just natural that we as a family came together to create this event and to enjoy it. A couple of things that really helped us plan our wedding was staying organized every step of the way and starting early. Starting early saved us because we are both full time students and had very little time when school was in session to do any actual planning. One other very important detail that everyone should learn while planning any event is to not be afraid to let things go when you need to. Too many nuances can really take the fun out of things and steer you away from the big picture, but if you can learn to be flexible and not try and control every single detail you will enjoy your special time so much more!

Lovely: What was the most memorable moment?
Stevie: Oh, there were so many! The whole ceremony was so wonderful and calm that it seemed surreal. Both Trevor and I were so ready for that moment that we just smiled, breathed in the warm country air, and declared our hearts desires to each other…it was magical. A funny moment was when our Dj put on “Baby Got Back” right after the first dance. I was skeptical and was beginning to tell him that I didn’t think anyone would come to dance to it and then I had about 10 of my fabulous ladies descend upon the dance floor! All ages, all my loves, getting wild: it was priceless J
Lovely: If you could give future brides any advice, what would it be?
Stevie: Don’t get swallowed up by the wedding industry out there! Everyone wants to tell you how to do your wedding. The magazines you think are going to help you, usually only stand as advertisement books. The truth is if you can plan it, pay for it, clean up after it, and keep the love flowing while in the process, you can have a wonderful event. There were moments when I got caught up in seasonal colors or patterns and other such details and it just wasn’t worth the worry. We brought the things that we love, stand for, and believe in together and our wedding was beautiful because of that. I looked at it as an opportunity to create a piece of art and really tried to grow from the process and have fun with it. So to all you future wedded couples out there: make it your own! Weddings don’t have to be religious, have a white dress, or be perfect. They’re just a time in space for you and yours to be together and that in itself is so precious. Good luck and enjoy!
